Mount Lebanon Branch was established by a group of dedicated graduates of AUB in the mid eighties. It covers the total geographical area of Mount Lebanon ranging between Chouf, including Ikleem Al Kharroub, all the way to Byblos,while passing through Baabda, Metn, Kesrwan and the outskirts of Beirut.
The Branch s founded on a clear constitution, and in conformity with the main association; as the document used in governing everyday activities, as well as, the general organization of the institution. In that respect, the constitution identified:
A Board, including the founding members, present and past presidents, ministers, and parliamentary members, in addition to, present 1st category employees, all of whom, should be AUB graduates and residents or with offices in Mount Lebanon geographically.
An Executive Committee, elected for a period of three years and representing the different schools and specialties to handle the activities and concerns of the Branch.
Today, Mount Lebanon Branch proudly encompasses over 5,000 permanently residing, and over 1,500 regularly visiting, graduates.
The main goals and directive spirit of this Branch were reflected in the 1st word of dedication of its current President Eng. Samir Abou Samra in 2001 as follows:
To stand together by our Mother University, a unique educational entity founded on a land of receptivity, openness and civilization: LEBANON
To stand by its spirit, principles and values, which helped enrich in us the sense of pride and awareness.
To strengthen the profound relation that has never existed between a university and its Alumni as in the case of AUB.
To preserve the sense of belonging, mixed with an exceptional sagacity, appreciation and gratitude to this University that has been able to, preserve its image and standard, over the years.
To join efforts to preserve the prestige of the past while rallying to capture the over-growing progress.
To create a spirit of unity and openness; in heart, mind and soul; amongst all the Alumni colleagues of this Branch and the different other Branches and chapters in Lebanon and abroad.
To provide scholarship funds through the various activities to support the AUB students of this Branch.
The graduates of Mount Lebanon have accompanied AUB since it was a college and witnessed its growth step by step. Since then, a close relation has been established between them. AUB helped them to be prominent and famous in counterpart, they supported their university by all possible means. This is a role that Mount Lebanon Branch shall maintain and fortify.
Together we shall remain looking always for the better.
