I graduated from AUB with my masters courses completed, in the early seventies, with high hopes. My degrees and AUB's reputation helped me build a solid foundation for my career. As I evolved, I got the opportunity to meet many fellow Alumni: some of whom helped boost my career and others became friends for life… United by our educational background, our sense or belonging and a deep feeling of pride. Many other similar institutions were established in larger and bigger countries of our area, but none was able to develop or to grow, while AUB became the premier regional university. This was only possible because Lebanon, and more particularly Mount Lebanon, have proved to be a fertile soil for liberal thinking, freedom of speech, and tolerance; thus enabling AUB to breathe, survive and spread its spirit and values all around. In recent years, AUB has under its new management, reviewed every aspect of its teaching and research undertakings: and has developed, as a result, the campus Master plan, which is a twenty- year plan, during which 150 million US Dollars will be invested in physical rehabilitation and new facilities. Mount Lebanon Branch of AUB's Alumni Association has been formed in the early eighties, by a small group of dedicated alumni, residing in Mount Lebanon. Later on, a large number of alumni joined the Branch that turned to become the largest in the Association. Since then, the Branch lived up to its declared objectives that are:
Bind alumni, residing in the Mount Lebanon, will ties of mutual benefit, socially and professionally
Strengthen the Branch by building a sense of belonging and pride in its name away from the surrounding tides of conflicting creed fanaticism & Discrimination.
Support the university through a determined involvement providing all required assistance
Subject goal has been achieved successfully due to the energy, enthusiasm and loyalty with which the Branch goes about all its activities in support of AUB. In fact the Branch has contributed, through a variety of educational. Cultural, environment, sports and social activities, in keeping an image of high quality to the AUB standard and reputation. The Branch has, as well, established a scholarship fund for needy and qualified students and promoted job fairs, aiming mainly at creatig work opportunities for new graduates. We will continue to stand constantly by our mother university and be its most ardent ambassadors to the world… for our ake and most importantly, for sake of generations to come.
